I’ve shared my enthusiasm for Learn Math Fast as a means of learning math facts, but it’s also a great method for kids who are behind grade level in math. I asked the author to guest post on the subject and I was thrilled when she agreed. I have Volume I of Learn Math Fast (a $45 value) to give away by April 1st. Follow the Rafflecopter instructions below and best wishes!

Homeschooling your child can be a beautiful journey full of magical moments, but for some, teaching math isn’t one of them.
Many families have told me how they have tried nearly every math curriculum out there. They’ve tried manipulatives, worksheets, DVDs, online programs, and nothing has worked for their struggling, older child. The clock is ticking; high school is only a couple years away. What are parents to do when they discover their 7th grader is barely passing 3rd grade math? How can they possibly make up 5 years of math by next year? How do you convince a 12-year-old boy that he needs to read a first grade math book, adorned with cartoon animals and big, puffy letters? When you feel your child needs to start over from the beginning and actually learn math, instead of guessing or counting on their fingers, you should try the Learn Math Fast System.
The Learn Math Fast System has a unique approach to explaining math–one that is working for hundreds of homeschooling families across America.
The system consists of four paperback books and one geometry kit. It is designed to be read from page one, which starts with first grade math, all the way through to the end of book four, getting your child caught up to eighth grade math in about a year.
How is this possible? The Learn Math Fast System focuses on the most important concepts in math and cuts out all the filler and fluff. The math facts are taught using a systematic approach to ensure that all gaps are filled in, giving students a solid foundation along with an understanding of higher math.
It doesn’t matter if mom and dad are rusty in math, the Learn Math Fast System assumes the reader is new to each concept. All answers include full solutions, so you aren’t left wondering how to get the right answer. And if you need additional help, you can contact the author via email anytime.
If you like the fun, casual math in the Life of Fred books, the high school preparedness of Saxon math, and the success of Singapore Math, then you will love the Learn Math Fast System. It can successfully prepare your child for high school math in about a year, with a fun, casual program.
The giveaway is over, but you can save $5 on this system with code DRMEL at the website.
Hi,
I have been homeschooling my 11 and 7 years olds for 3 years now. I started with my youngest right after she graduated preschool, so she is well adjusted and doing well. My oldest however, was in private school until after the 4 th grade. When I started with her she was already behind especially in math and things haven’t improved much. Like you suggest in your advertisements I have tried a lot of different things, and I am terrified of her still being behind by the time she reaches high school. I have even been toying with the idea of sending her back to “regular school” next year.
I am anxious to give it another try with your program. I am also very, very interested in reading your book “So You’re Not a Wonder Woman?” I often feel like I am completely lost when teaching my own children, which is hard because I have been teaching in schools for over 10 years with much success with OTHER people’ children!
So glad you stopped by Zuwena. I know JK will have an encouraging word for you. One of the things you wrote that jumps out at me is “terrified.” Our fears can get in the way of doing just about anything. Perhaps the Help for the Unmotivated Homeschooler will be of interest to you. I will be speaking more in depth on this topic at the Ultimate Homeschool Expo in April as well. The link for more information to it is on my right sidebar.
As for reading my book, I hope you win a copy! If not, be watching for more opportunities to read So You’re Not Wonder Woman for free.
I am praying for you…
This looks great! Thanks for the chance to win!
You’re welcome, Karyn! I just noticed today what a great community you have on BlogFrog. I’ll be checking it regularly.
This sounds very interesting.
I hope you’ll check out the website, Heather.
we are planning on doing geometry next with our highschooler, after Algebra II and before Algebra Trig. Is this a good progression, I had someone recently question this, thinking Algebra Trig needs to go next, but I think you need some Geometry to succeed in Algebra Trig.
You are absolutely right. You should learn high school geometry before Trig. Trig is a higher level of geometry, so you should start with a good background in geometry, before taking on Trig.

Anyone know if they do the book fair circuit? Sounds great. But it is hard to get the concept, even with great testimonials, for those who “see” with hands on! (-;
I watched the video and it was very, very helpful.
Hi Debbie,
We are based on the west coast and we attend some the big conventions out here. But drop me a line through “contact us” on my website and I’ll send you some sample pages via email.
Thanks,
~JK
would this help with a child who is learning disabled? She has discalculia and a lot of other learning difficulties
It has been successful with some Autisic children and a with several “Active Intellects” (ADHD) kids, but everyone is different. You are welcome to try it out for 60 days and if it doesn’t work for your child, we do offer a money back guarantee. I can also send you a sample lesson. Just contact me via http://www.LearnMathFastBooks.com.

Got here via a post on the homeschoolingboys yahoo group. We’ve just started our homeschooling adventure with my 6 year old son and have been trying to track down a better math curriculum. Would love to win this to see if it is what we have been looking for!
So glad someone shared this on homeschooling boys. I have 5 and was a long-time member. Best wishes with homeschooling! I’ve been using Learn Math Fast with my 6yo and he is doing amazingly well. Thanks for commenting!
I have to admit I am a little skeptical. It still sounds like one would have to push
one’s child to complete this, rather than it being something they would be happy to do on their own. I would be happy to try a sample lesson though.
I understand your skepticism. It’s hard to believe that eight years of math can be covered in just one year. But when it comes to math, there are a handful of stumbling blocks that will derail a student’s progress. They are addition, multiplication, fractions, multiplying mixed numbers, negative numbers, solving for x, and slopes. Typically when an older student falls behind in math it is because they have not thoroughly learned one or more of these concepts. Each one can be taught in a relatively short amount of time, it just needs to be explained in a way a student can understand.
The Learn Math Fast System focuses on these stumbling blocks, teaching each one with a different approach. As students go through the books, they gain confidence as they finally start to understand math for the first time.
And if students do run into difficulties, they are instructed not to move forward until they have learned each lesson, allowing them to go at their own pace.
Please visit the website and read through the sample pages on fractions under the “Home” tab at the top of any page.
I have bookmarked this site. My daughter is not doing well socially in school and she does not want to go back next year. We have found a private school that she likes but my husband has been laid off and hasn’t found work yet. If he doesn’t find a job soon we will not be able to afford to send her to private school and I may have to consider homeschooling again. I home schooled her for awhile last year but really felt overwhelmed and that I wasn’t doing a good job and therefore sent her back to school this year. Hopefully with better resources I won’t feel so overwhelmed if we decide to homeschool again.
Debbie, I’m so glad you stopped by. I do believe that confidence is huge and I hope to help moms have more of that. If you have any questions as you know what your plans are, please let us know!
